Edeli Group Sponsors Charity Team for Roof of the World Rally
9th April 2010: Edeli Limited, importers of quality Spanish foods together with sister company Iluminada Ltd, spanish style outside caterers, have announced they are sponsoring a team for the Roof of the World Rally running from London to Tajikistan starting on 3 July. The Charity Road Trips team will complete a 4,000 mile journey with no back up support, passing through countries including Serbia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, with the aim of raising £20,000 to be divided equally between the two charities: Sworde Teppa and Make a Wish.
“We will be driving a V8 Landrover Discovery by day and sleeping in tents by night,” explains Ashley Platen-Mills originator of the Charity Road Trips team. “We are delighted to have the Edeli Group on board as one of our sponsors to help us reach our fund raising target for these worthwhile charities.”
Sworde Teppa is an emergency reconstruction and development organization which provides sustainable development in the region. As well as raising much needed funds, the team will donate the Landrover to the Sworde Teppa charity at the end of the rally. Make a Wish is a UK charity that gives magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
“I have needed 11 inoculations for the trip and there is the risk of altitude sickness in addition to land-mines being an issue in some of the central Asian countries we will be passing through,” continues Platen-Mills. “It is going to be a tough four week challenge but we will have fun along the way too raising money for such good causes.”

Run by Tracy and Nick Hayward – our son David (18) is part of the Dorset team on the Roof of the World Ralley and will be travelling from London to Tajikastan and documenting the trip – David’s career ambition is to become a journalist.
